Missions
Our Call
Impact believes that as followers of Jesus we are each called to be Christ’s ambassadors (2 Corinthians five 20) and to serve as His hands and feet on earth. We believe that Christ desires each of us as to spread the gospel and to make disciples of all nations, be that from home or abroad (Matthew 28:19). So basically, as disciples of Jesus we are all “missionaries” and strive to be receptive and willing to accept His call. As the body of Christ we see great importance in living lives that reflect and honour God and that testify of His Word to the many nations gathered here in the city of Montreal. We are also dedicated to supporting those members of Impact that are called to be Christ’s ambassadors abroad through prayer and finances.
Our Missions History
A desire to reach out and communicate to others the hope that comes in knowing Christ has been in the core mandate of Impact over the years. Small groups have been established in connection with the church to serve the needs of the local constituencies. But, beyond Montreal’s borders, there have been those from Impact who have traveled afar every year since our inception. In 2003, for example, a group of twelve Impact members traveled together to Mali to serve, and in 04, an Impacter served in Turkey. In 05-06 others served in various places. In 2007, two of our members did demographic work in an Asian country, and another shared her faith all summer in another Asian country. In 2008 Impact sent out members to Tajikistan, Asia, Vancouver, Tanzania, India and Rwanda. In 2009, Impacters went to India, Kenya, N. Canadian 1st Nations reserves, England, France and elsewhere. Impact is on mission with God!
Our Missions FutureYou are the future of missions. Your voice must be heard over the roar of the world. Your voice is needed proclaim Christ where Christ is not known. Paul wrote to the church in Rome, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone proclaiming to them? And how can they proclaim unless they are sent?” (Romans Ten13-15). Paul’s logic is crystal clear - for people to believe in the message of the Gospel, believers must first go and tell it! Impact Church continues to cry out to the Lord of the Harvest to raise up new laborers for the harvest (Matthew nine 38).
Are you ready to be sent? Isaiah was. He wrote, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah six 8). God is ready to use you if you are willing, just like He used Isaiah, and just like He used the original apostles. He told them, and He tells us today, “Go, make disciples of all the nations! (Matthew twenty-eight, 19).
So, what are you waiting on? Say yes, be sent, go tell! “You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth (Acts one, 8).”
